Aharam — Food Service App

Overview

Finding a home-cooked meal has always been hard for students and bachelors living away from home. Aharam wanted a food delivery app with an elegant UI and a hassle-free experience that delivers home-style meals at a reasonable price.

The problem

Our challenge was to see the app from the end user’s perspective and design it for that audience. The client also wanted the app to feel homely, reflecting their motto “Ghar Ka Khana” (home-cooked food).

Process

The process covered stakeholder interviews, user research, a site audit, requirements definition, information architecture and wireframes, visual design, prototypes and usability testing.

Key features

• Meal plans: buy single meals or multi-day plans.
• Scheduling: a calendar to plan meals for lunch and dinner.
• Delivery tracking: follow your order to the door.

Visual design

I designed a custom icon set for the core actions (buy meals, plan meals, track delivery, enjoy your meal) and illustrations for empty and error states such as “no plans scheduled yet”, “no internet connection”, “not logged in” and “contact us”. The fresh lime-green palette echoes the home-cooked food at the heart of the brand.
