Fleet Management System

Overview

The goal was to build a system that manages the whole fleet operation at every level. The fleet management system is a connected-vehicle programme for large and small commercial vehicles. The fleet web portal and the driver app connect to an external data source.

Who it’s for

Fleet owners and managers, who are responsible for managing and running the fleet. They use the web portal to do this.

Process

Define, design the flow, design the conversation, prototype, create training data, user testing, then build, implement and scale.

Key features

The wireframes set out the main areas of the portal:

• Dashboard overview: owners can see the entire fleet on a map, with graphs of vehicle status, assignments, consignments, trip costs and fuel use.
• Vehicle master: shows full details for every vehicle. Owners can add new vehicles by filling in their details, due mappings and documents.
• Users: owners and managers can see the list of users with their roles and other details.

Visual design

The final UI uses a dark indigo theme with bright accent colours for live data. It includes a branded login screen, a dashboard with live incidents, open issues, live fleet status on a map, fleet occupancy and monthly average trip cost, and a trip-detail view with a speedometer, fuel gauge and current location.
