Overview

MystiCare is an Indian online crowdfunding platform where organisations across the country can raise funds for any kind of cause. NGOs create their own fundraising campaign stories in the app, and users donate to the causes they care about. Before an account is activated, each NGO goes through a verification process that checks the authenticity and validity of its documents.

The problem

The main challenge was to create a seamless, secure fundraising platform for NGOs while keeping the donation process transparent and authentic. MystiCare also needed a verification process that validated NGOs and their causes, to build trust among donors.

Process

I followed a design thinking process:

  • Empathise: understood the needs and challenges of NGOs and donors through research and observation.
  • Define: set goals around transparency, donor engagement and usability.
  • Ideate: generated solutions through brainstorming and collaboration.
  • Prototype: built prototypes to gather feedback and iterate.
  • Test: ran usability testing with representative users and refined the designs.

I created a persona (Maya Watson), looked at the target audience’s age groups, and compared MystiCare with Ketto, ImpactGuru and Milaap. Competitors had gaps in NGO verification and transparency around how funds are used. MystiCare’s own risks included limited reach into rural communities with poor internet access, and dependence on technology that leaves it open to glitches and cyber threats.

Key features

  • Onboarding: splash, welcome and sign-up screens.
  • Home feed: fundraising campaigns and NGO news, with donation progress and a quick donate action.
  • User profile: a personal space for a donor’s activity.
  • Admin dashboard: tools for managing the platform.

Visual design

The design system uses Poppins with a warm palette of white (#FFFFFF), dark brown (#23190C) and yellow (#FAC11C). I built reusable components including gift cards, a donate popup, a sign-in prompt, a navbar and a custom icon set.
